Make Money with Martial Arts Ezines

Trust Yourself So They Trust You

In the Internet marketing world, it is commonly believed that an affiliate can ruin a sale by trying to sell the prospect.

That's because most affiliates don't know how to sell.

The affiliate in his or her enthusiasm may mention the price too early, for example. Or talk about all of the bonuses. Then, when the prospect gets to that part of the sales letter on the sales site, the information is old hat. It doesn't have the sizzle needed to nudge the prospect into customer status.

The marketing pros have strong sales messages that have been tested on thousands of viewers. The pros want to do their own selling.

So, they advise that the affiliate give a simple endorsement of how they benefitted from the product. And then they send their readers over to the site, where the real sales message begins.

This is called Pre-Selling. You just warm the prospect up, and let the site do the selling.

Doing Your Own Marketing

On the other hand, you could be so enthusiastic about the product that you want to mount your own campaign. You understand that you have to get in your prospects' faces around seven or eight times, in order for them to buy.

You are prepared to start with a strong endorsement letter. You'll follow with an initial report of how sales went and some early testimonials. Then you'll give them a how-to article that points towards the product. And so on.

You want to market aggressively. You're out for money.

Which Method Should You Try?

I used to recommend that my affiliates try both methods. Experiment, do some testing of one method against the other.

Now, I realize that you know your readers, subscribers, peers, and visitors better than I do. You probably can guess what they like.

So, do a little profiling.

Go to the main page of this site. There are two offers.

Are you going to promote the knife-fighting ebook or the wrist-locks ebook? Or will you just send folks to a site which lists martial-arts ezines and hope they click on a product?

It's your choice.

Try to imagine that you are one of the people you send to this page. Read it from his (or her) perspective.

Which product will you recommend?

Once on the product page, you need to decide if the copy interesting (to you).

Does it make you enthusiastic? Eager to buy and start learning wrist locks or making your knife-fighting automatic?

If you want to pull out your credit card and buy it based on the copy, then you should probably just do a quick presell with your people.

Give them a testimonial about how much you like the product, how it's different from all others, and how it will really help them. Then send them to martialartsezines.com through your affiliate link.

Concluding Advice

Trust your own instincts.

Which will work with your people?

Do you need to build the sell with repetitive mentions of the product?

Would a softer sell be better -- a testimonial and a link?

Or should you go the even softer route and send folks to a site filled with links to martial-arts ezines?

Take the option that's right for the people you are going to contact. Once you make a choice, give it a chance. And even there, make sure you do a little experimenting.

Once in awhile, mix it up. Try a completely different method of promoting.
